Rangers went to the top of the Scottish Premier League on Sunday as they came from behind to beat Hearts 2-1, and fans of the club on Twitter have since been lavishing praise on striker Alfredo Morelos.
Steven Gerrard’s side went 1-0 down just before the half-hour mark, as centre-back Gareth McAuley inadvertently diverted a Marcus Godinho cross into his own net. The Gers came back though, and it was McAuley’s defensive partner Connor Goldson who netted the equaliser, smashing the ball into the back of the net after Hearts failed to clear from a corner.
Rangers then completed the comeback before the half-time whistle as Morelos turned in James Tavernier’s free-kick with a fantastic volley.
The goal was Morelos’ 17th of the season so far in all competitions, and it also meant the he equalled the record for scoring in consecutive SPL matches, matching David Clarkson’s seven games in a row for Dundee in 2014.
The 22-year-old has been on fire so far this season, and he was at his physical best against Hearts as he made the game a nightmare for centre-backs Michael Smith and Christophe Berra.
