A Colombian journalist has not held back on James Rodriguez in a recent rant about the Everton ace.
The Lowdown: Rodriguez exit?
There have been recent reports of Rodriguez being linked with a move to AC Milan in the summer transfer window from Goodison Park.
With the departure of Carlo Ancelotti to Real Madrid, one can question whether new manager Rafa Benitez will want to keep the attacking midfield player in his squad ahead of the new 2021/22 season.
The Latest: Rodriguez slammed
As quoted by Colombia.com, sports journalist Carlos Antonio Velez has slammed Rodriguez, dubbing him a ‘waste of talent’ and a ‘terrible professional’, accusing him of working ‘little’ for his team:
“The waste of talent with James Rodriguez is sad.
“When one has so many problems with employers, suddenly the problem is not the employer, but one (…) James resembles those of Fecode, they work little (… )
“When you have not given anything, you do not have the right to claim anything.
“I admire James’s technical conditions and it annoys me that he does not use them and take advantage of them well.
“He is in a terrible professional deficit.”
The Verdict: Sell
While Rodriguez is clearly a talented football player, there have been big question marks over his work rate when he plays for the Merseyside club.
He has suffered scrutiny by both English and Colombian media since his move to the Toffees, which may have affected some of his performances.
Rodriguez also suffered from consistent injury problems throughout the 2020/21 term, and has not exactly been overly enthusiastic about staying at the Blues since Ancelotti’s departure.
Bearing in mind that he is now 29 years of age as well, it may be ideal for EFC to cut their losses on Rodriguez and thus let him go to Milan, providing that they can get a suitable transfer fee and use that money to buy an adequate replacement.
