Everton fans have been delighted with the start of Lucas Digne, but Antonee Robinson showed this week that he is nearly ready to challenge the Frenchman for that left-back spot.

It’s been clear for quite some time that Everton need a replacement for Leighton Baines, and it looks pretty likely that the long-term solution will be Digne.
The Frenchman signed from Barcelona this summer, and has looked very good in his short time on Merseyside so far.
However, some fans wanted Robinson to get the nod at the start of the summer, and the youngster is getting loads of praise for his international showing this week.
Robinson, who is currently on loan at Wigan, had a nightmare performance in the United States’ friendly defeat to Brazil on Friday night, getting rinsed on several occasions by the electric Douglas Costa.

He was fabulous in his country’s 1-0 win over Mexico on Tuesday night though, assisting the winning goal and defending superbly.
The 21 year-old is 6 ft tall, extremely fast, and has now shown the elite mentality it takes to bounce back from bad performances at the highest level.
He was brilliant on loan at Bolton last season, and if he keeps his form up at Wigan then Digne might have a tough time keeping that left back spot, as you can see from the Twitter reactions down below…
