According to a report by The Daily Mail, Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe is Tottenham Hotspur’s number one target if they lose Mauricio Pochettino to Manchester United in the summer, but they should forget about the young Englishman and appoint Brendan Rodgers instead.
What’s the word, then?
Well, the Red Devils appointed former striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their caretaker manager for the remainder of the 2018/19 season on Wednesday following Jose Mourinho’s sacking on Tuesday, ahead of appointing a long-term successor for the Portuguese at the end of the campaign.
It seems likely that Pochettino – who The Times report wants the job – will be one of the frontrunners for the role given his success with Spurs, and the fact that he is likely to have the resources available to him at Old Trafford that he doesn’t have right now.
The Daily Mail say that the promising Howe is Daniel Levy’s first choice should he lose his Argentine boss, with the 41-year-old having become renowned for his attractive style of football with the south coast outfit, as well as significantly improving the players he has in his squad.

Why Howe is a good choice in a number of ways, he still has that lack of experience that is key for a club like Tottenham considering where they are now.
They are no longer a team fighting for a top-six finish in the Premier League and competing in the Europa League, they are a side that should be title contenders and competing and giving themselves a chance to beat the very best in European football, too.
The step up from Bournemouth to Spurs may be too big for him right now, but it certainly wouldn’t be for Celtic’s Brendan Rodgers.
The Northern Irishman has led the Scottish giants and Liverpool in Europe’s elite club competition, is known for his positive brand of football and also came so close to winning the Premier League title with the Reds in 2015.
The 45-year-old may have been ridiculed at times during his time on Merseyside, but he has the ability and confidence to be a better fit in north London than Howe.
